Frequently Asked Questions about the NORA Fellowship Program

Question 1: I took a Clinical Skills in the past and I want to apply for NORA Fellowship. Will it count towards the requirement?

Yes, in-person Clinical Skills course that an individual has taken at a previous NORA annual meeting can be applied towards the NORA Fellowship process, as long as it is still within 5-10 years upon Fellowship completion. (Please see the section on the program requirements if you had taken an online Clinical Skills courses in 2020 or 2021 during the pandemic.)


Question 2: Can I take any of the Clinical Skills courses without applying for NORA Fellowship.

Yes, many individuals will take these courses as continuing education.


Question 3: I am a licensed professional (OT, PT, DC, DO, MD) but not an optometrist, am I eligible to apply for and pursue NORA Fellowship?

Yes, as long as all the listed requirements are met and completed. For individuals who are not optometrists, their Level 2 case reports must include the data on diagnosis and treatment from the collaborating Neuro-Optometrist. (Please see also answers to Question 5)


Question 4: I am an international member, am I eligible to apply for and pursue NORA Fellowship?

Yes, as long as you are a licensed professional and all the listed requirements are met and completed. (Please see also answers to Question 5)


Question 5: I am not a professional who is licensed to make diagnosis and prescribe treatment, am I eligible to apply for and pursue NORA Fellowship?

No, since the NORA Fellowship process involves diagnosis and treatment of medical disorders, currently only professionals who are licensed to provide diagnosis and/or treatment are eligible to apply.


Question 6: I am a Level 2 candidate. Must I need to submit both case reports by the submission deadline in order to do my Level 2 presentation that year?

No, due to the pandemic, the NORA Fellowship Committee has been allowing Level 2 candidates who submit ONE case report by the submission deadline to present that Case Report once it is fully-accepted. Afterward, the candidate can then begin working on the SECOND case report.


Question 7: I have an article submitted to be considered to a journal or book recently. Can it be counted towards the Level 3 requirement?

To be considered for acceptance towards Level 3, please see if all the requirements listed in the Level 3 requirement section on the program requirements webpage are met.
